The world's largest solo-constructed catamaran
In 1972 Science Teacher Les Thompson began work on what would ultimately become the world's largest catamaran to be built by one person. The 24m (80 ft) steel vessel was launched eight years later at Inverloch in southern Australia and fitted out over subsequent years. In addition to sailing around the Australian continent, she proved highly seaworthy and featured hydraulic legs with which she could 'walk' up any suitable beach.
