Maintenance of below-waterline areas was easily enabled by walking Llinase up any suitable beach

The starboard leg is loaded with half the weight of Llinase — or approximately 35 tonnes.

Repair

A 'broken leg' is repaired with the on-board welder after Llinase slewed sideways during one foray out of the sea. With the weight of the vessel on the leg, the hull impacted with considerable force and it was buckled. The section was cut out (seen on deck in front of the weld flare) and replaced.
